Anglo-German International Women's Association e. V.
The Club was founded in 1966 as the “Anglo-German Women’s Association” by a group of British and German ladies under the leadership of Mrs. Jill Oakeshott, the wife of the British Consul General in Hamburg at that time.
In 1972 membership was extended to women of every nationality and the Club was renamed “Anglo-German International Women’s Association”.
AGIWA is a non-denominational, non-political and non-profit-making organisation.
Our aim is to promote and strengthen friendship between women of all nationalities through joint activities such as social and charitable work, cultural visits, lectures, discussions groups, etc.
At present our honorary patron is Lady Sirinat Wood, wife of the British Ambassador in Berlin
